Shifting your mood

July 2, 2012

Greetings! I hope the summer is off to a fantastic start for you, and that you find time over the next two months reconnecting to the joyfulness you once exuded as a child :). Some days, that can be a bit more challenging than others. I know when I’m cranky or dealing with issues and can’t seem to shake my bad mood, these are some of the ways I am able to shift my vibration:
1. Imagine a giant lightswitch that goes from your collarbone to your bellybutton. Since you’re “down”, the switch will appear to be in the “down” position, indicating your light to be OFF. Simply take a deep breath, exhale, and flip that switch “UP” to turn your inner light ON. Close your eyes and FEEL that light radiate inside you, it may perhaps dimly at first, but allow it to glow warmly and raise the vibration inside you, bit by bit, until you feel light all over. Repeat as many times a day as necessary.
2. Be outside in nature. This is especially effective if it’s raining, as you can allow the rain to wash over you and cleanse your energy, bringing it back to it’s naturally higher vibration. If it’s not raining, being near a stream or any running water is just as effective. Try sitting against or hugging a tree – nature has a wonderful vibration that can help transmute negativity. I like to put both my palms on the earth and visualize the lower energy leaving my hands going into mother earth for transmutation. Don’t forget to give thanks!
3. Journal. Perosnally, I fought journaling for a looooong time, but as soon as I tried it, I was hooked. We live in a society where we are being stimulated from every direction, and journaling really helps cut through that “inner chatter”; it reminds and enables us to hear our own inner voice of wisdom, often drowned out by today’s fast-paced world.
4. Lastly, no matter where you are – be alone for a few moments and take a deep breath, hold it for a count of 3 seconds, then exhale. Repeat this 2 more times. This sends the signal to your brain and body to “slow down”. Once you are able to slow down, you’ll think clearer and won’t make a hasty decision you may regret later on.
Eckhart Tolle said, “Realize deeply that the present moment is all you will ever have.” If this is true, seize the power in this moment and CHOOSE how you will experience it…because you do have a choice…and I hope you choose to experience it with joy!
